Quantity 80:  34cm Single Pass Grey SuperSorb® CarbonPad used as a polishing filter in the Merlin Top Fry, Merlin Clarifry and Opal System 2000. Can also be used with Aries 1, 2, and 3, Airies Leo, Aries Gemini, Pura 250 and the Bitterling CS55 machines. Until recently, because hot oil/fat had to be re-circulated within the machine for up to 10 minutes to achieve the desired results it was not possible to use these very fine filters with some machines because of the extra strain on the motor. Using our single pass filters overcomes this problem while achieving the desired results.

SuperSorb® CarbonPads remove critical particulate contamination from edible fry oils during the filtration process, down to extremely fine micron values. Activated Carbon was chosen as the “active” agent because of its large reactive and adsorptive surface area. “Each level teaspoon of activated carbon particles exceeds the surface area of a football field.” Activated carbon has thousands of interconnected graphite-based platelets which create interior channels, holes, and pockets. This greatly increases adsorptive capacity over that of other filters, resulting in a filter media that achieves superior particulate and organic contaminate removal. Superpad White is an additive free cellulose fibre filter.

  • What should I do while my filter machine is being serviced or repaired?
We understand how challenging it can be to operate without your filter machine. For planned maintenance, schedule the service during downtime, such as when your shop is closed, to avoid disruption. For unplanned maintenance, prevention is key. Ensure the machine is operated as per design and specifications and that all users are properly trained. Some customers keep a second machine as a backup, either on-site or at another location. If you have a spare machine, remember to keep it serviced and in use periodically.
  • What temperature should I be filtering at?
We recommend filtering at a temperature between 120 and 140 degrees for all machines, except for the Merlin Maestro, which should be filtered at 120 to 160 degrees.
  • How often should I use the machine?
Use the machine every day you are in operation. Many of our busiest customers, especially during peak seasons, filter both at the start and end of their shifts.
  • How often should I change the filters?
The filter pad and paper are single-use and should be changed every time you operate the machine.
  • How long will it take to service/repair my machine?
Premier1 Filtration aims to complete service or repairs within five working days after receiving your machine. However, this may be quicker depending on the workshop's workload.
  • What’s the difference between the White SuperPad and the Carbon Pad?
The SuperSorb Carbon Pad contains an active carbon additive that attracts and absorbs finer and carbon particles, as well as reducing unwanted tastes and odours from the oil. For example, it can help eliminate meaty smells and flavours from oil used to fry sausages. Due to its denser structure, the SuperSorb Carbon Pad may show signs of blocking after 3 or 4 pans, resulting in slower oil return or hose vibrations.
  • Which way should the pad be placed?
The pad has two sides: a rough side and a smooth side. When placing the pad, ensure the rough side faces upwards. On a mobile filter machine, the rough side should face you. In in-built filtration, the rough side should be visible once the pad is slotted into the holder.
  • Can you come to my shop to service or repair my filter machine?
Unfortunately, we do not provide on-site service due to our small team size and the health and safety considerations of off-site work. Our workshop is equipped with specialised tools and lifting equipment to handle tasks safely and efficiently. We are always available to assist remotely via calls or video chats.
  • Are the round pads and papers compatible with other machines?
Yes, the 34cm discs and round pads are compatible with various machines such as the Merlin Master Fry, Merlin Top Fry, Aries Carbon Assassin, Oil Master Pro, and Bitterling CS55.
  • How do I look after your Merlin Oil Filter machine?
Proper care of your Merlin Oil Filter machine is simple and will ensure years of reliable service. Follow these routine maintenance steps: Training and Instruction: Make sure anyone using the machine has read the instructions and received proper training to prevent misuse. Daily Cleaning: After every use, once the machine has cooled down, remove the used filters and wipe down the filter components with blue roll or a damp cloth. Wipe the tank and the exterior of the machine in the same way. Weekly Maintenance: Wash the hose in hot, soapy water and flush it with hot water. Hang the hose up to drain and dry. Also, wash the support mesh and separator mesh in hot, soapy water, rinse, and dry them thoroughly. Monthly Maintenance: When the machine is cold, have a second person help you carefully lay the machine on its side. Clean the castors (wheels) to remove debris such as mop strands, food waste, or grease. Check and tighten the castors and the quick release couplings on the machine and nozzle, if necessary.
  • How long does it take to filter?
Once you are familiar with the machine, you should be able to filter one pan in about 5 minutes.
  • Can I filter using just the paper?
Technically, yes. However, this would not be a two-stage filtration process, as the paper is meant to protect the pad by collecting heavier sediment and larger particles. The pad is essential for filtering finer particles and carbon residues. Using only papers repeatedly will cause the pipework to become blocked with carbon buildup sooner than expected.
  • Is the Merlin Maestro machine and its running costs expensive?
Can you afford NOT to filter? The Merlin Maestro will pay for itself within the first year of filtration. To put it into perspective, the cost of filtering is approximately equivalent to a bag of chips per day. Regular filtration maintains high product quality, increasing customer satisfaction and ensuring the cost of the filters is covered by repeat business. You can also review our oil cost calculation for a personalised comparison.
  • How does the Merlin Maestro compare to other machines?
The Merlin Maestro offers several advantages over other machines currently on the market, including: Heat-Up Motor Protection: Protects the motor during the initial start-up process. Overheat Protection: Prevents the machine from overheating, ensuring safe operation. Modular Sub-Assemblies: Designed for easier maintenance and repair. Maintenance-Friendly: Simplifies servicing, reducing downtime and costs. Updated Coupling System: Provides a more secure and reliable connection. Quieter Operation: Reduces noise levels, making it more pleasant to use.
  • Can the filters be cleaned or washed?
No, the pads and papers are designed for single use only, but all filters (except Miroil Bags) are biodegradable.
  • How many pans can one pad and paper handle?
This depends on your usage and the oil's cleanliness. Properly sieving the oil before filtration is crucial. Most customers filter 3 to 4 pans with the same pad and paper. If the oil flow slows down on the last pan, it means the pad is starting to block, which could strain the motor. In such cases, to prevent motor damage, poke a few small holes through the pad to improve oil flow. You will need to install new filters and filter this pan again.
  • Why did the wheel break on my machine?
The wheels (castors) are designed for smooth, level surfaces. Damage can occur if the machine is bumped against steps or door frames. To avoid this, tip the machine slightly to clear any obstructions before rolling it. Additionally, wheels can seize if mop strands or debris get caught in them, so it’s essential to clean them regularly, ideally once a month. Also, prolonged contact with floor cleaner can cause the tyres to break down. To prevent this, move the machine, mop the area where it is stored, and allow the floor to dry before placing the machine back.
